Who says annual meetings can’t be fun?
Ag-West Bio’s 19th annual meeting on June 29th featured a gameshow mashup, with five member ‘contestants’ turning up the drama to pitch for their companies.
The companies:
- HumaTerra: specializes in developing and manufacturing soil inoculants to restore biological health of soil.
- Prairie Tide Analytics: offers analytical testing – a critical component of ensuring the safety, quality, and consistency of food and beverage products.
- Proxima R&D: contract research and scientific services space for scientists, with a focus on biotechnology.
- Undercover Horticulture: year-round, managed greenhouse space so researchers can focus on research.
- VeriGrain: the leading on-farm, grain inventory management and digital traceability system for producers.
Saskatchewan media personality Paul Martin (Martin-Charlton Communications) was our gameshow host. The audience decided that Leon Pratchler and Kent Gulash of HumaTerra were Pitch Perfect; Chris Buhler of Undercover Horticulture delivered the Most Energy; and Martin Reaney of Prairie Tide Analytics captured the award for OMG, I didn’t know that!
After the pitch contest, the audience participated in a high-stakes quiz (to prove they were Smarter Than a Fifth Grader).
Dr. Erin Armstrong chaired the annual meeting. Three new board members were elected: Heather Forbes, Jason Skotheim, and Mike Wonnick.
Saskatchewan Minister of Agriculture David Marit attended the event to make the exciting announcement that Ag-West Bio funding has been renewed for another five years. A recorded greeting was delivered by Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Francis Drouin, on behalf of federal agriculture minister, Marie-Claude Bibeau.
