Saskatoon, SK: Ag-West Bio invites its members – and anyone interested in growing Saskatchewan’s bioeconomy – to its 7th Annual Meeting this afternoon.
A keynote address by Dr. Roger Beachy, President Emeritus for the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, Missouri will follow the annual meeting. Dr. Beachy was appointed Director of the U.S. National Institute of Food and Agriculture by President Barack Obama, a role he held until this spring. He is known as a pioneer in genetic modification of plants, and is considered an expert in the field. His presentation is entitled “Ensuring Innovation to Sustain a Vibrant Agriculture Economy for the 21st Century.”
MP Randy Hoback will bring greetings on behalf of the Government of Canada, and Alanna Koch, Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Agriculture, will provide a Provincial perspective in her presentation “Building Prosperity through Biotech Innovation.”
