I am pleased to announce that Mike Cey, Director of Corporate Initiatives, has been appointed to a secondment with Smart Earth Camelina Corporation (Smart Earth) as general manager, for a period of two years, effective November 4, 2019.
A long-time member of Ag-West Bio, Smart Earth is poised to experience significant growth in operations as they work to grow production, processing and sales of camelina in Canada.
Mike has been employed with Ag-West Bio for nine years and has provided exceptional leadership in establishing a range of new initiatives including the successful launch of the multi-million dollar Diverse Field Crops Cluster funded via the Canadian Agricultural Partnership. He has also worked closely with Smart Earth for several years and is familiar with the company’s strategies.
This secondment offers Mike an opportunity to use skills he has gained over the course of his career—both through his position at Ag-West Bio, as well as previous roles working in the grain industry—to help Smart Earth grow and flourish. Mike recently acquired his Executive MBA and anticipates his training will be put to good use in guiding Smart Earth through a period of transformative growth.
I believe the expertise of our staff at Ag-West Bio is second to none, and we are pleased to note that the qualifications and experience of our staff make them highly attractive as managers within industry. I am sure that Mike will be a great asset to Smart Earth.
On behalf of Ag-West Bio, I wish Mike and Smart Earth every success in this arrangement.
