A national Labour Market report released by BioTalent Canada in March, 2018 indicates Canada’s bio-economy is poised for growth. “Mapping the potential – Profiles of Canada’s biotech frontiers,” is BioTalent Canada’s first labour market information report that includes both national and provincial bio-economy snapshots. The report displays the diverse initiatives and growth of companies across Canada; the potential talent to help grow the industry and the positive impact of BioTalent Canada’s many wage subsidy programs on the industry.
The full report can be accessed at biotalent.ca/potential. Key highlights include:
- Provincial snapshots from 9 of ten provinces, from the provincial industry associations on the ground
- Survey results from 256 wage subsidy student placements since September 2017 and their 92 biotech employers
“The bio-economy potential can be seen across the country from the growth of our many companies, the initiatives to support the sector and the employer engagement programs to help employers hire the talent they need,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO BioTalent Canada. “We are pleased to work with our provincial and national partners on this milestone report to provide a broad picture of the growth of the industry and the talent within it, and we are especially excited to see the continued positive impact of wage subsidies, ensuring employers are able to connect with the job-ready talent.”
This report brings together data and feedback from across Canada and was developed in partnership with Renewable Industries Canada, LifeSciences British Columbia, Bioscience Association of Manitoba, Ag-West Bio Inc., BioNB, PEI BioAlliance, BioNova, BioConnect, BiogenIQ, Siemens Healthineers, and ERA Environmental Management Solutions.
