BioTalent Canada has released its third annual National Compensation Guide, which provides the average annual salaries and benefits for 34 popular skills profiles within the Canadian bio-economy. The publication also includes a national review of job descriptions and the experience, skills and education required to effectively function in those roles.
As investments in the sector continue to grow, biotechnology companies have come under increased pressure to find ways to attract new talent while retaining their most valuable employees, an issue according to BioTalent Canada’s labour market report, Sequencing the Data, remains one of the greatest challenges the biotechnology industry faces.
“Biotech companies across Canada depend on proper benchmarking to set competitive compensation levels. Our guide better positions talent and the competitive nature of our industry,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada.
BioTalent Canada, a national non-profit HR association for Canada’s bio-economy, contends competitive compensation packages are an integral part of attracting top talent, as access to industry-standard compensation practices remains a pain point in the industry.
With a bio-economy built on 80% of small- and medium-sized companies, access to affordable and sector-specific turnkey solutions to advance their HR platforms and practices easily is essential in maintaining a competitive advantage.
The information reflected in the latest installment of the National Compensation Guide was developed in consultation with industry partners to provide relevant and accurate data that matches the changing needs of Canada’s biotechnology industry.
