Luncheon with Kristal M. Allen
(MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman LLP)
The three key areas of discussion
presented through using examples of issues faced by sciences and technology
driven enterprises will be:

Food production and healthy foods:
Can we close the gap?
Les Copeland (Professor of Agriculture,
Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, The University of Sydney, Australia)
Two major global challenges are to
produce more food without increasing inputs of land and water, and to
produce foods that deliver health benefits to manage the risk of
diet-related diseases. This presentation will consider the links between
agriculture and health and how the goal of producing sufficient healthy food
to feed the world may be achieved.
Student Video The Evan Hardy Media School is
creating videos with 2012 Sanofi BioGeneius Canada Challenge participants,
including Walter Murray Collegiate’s Rui Song, (Bronze winner in the
International competition during BIO 2012). Interviews with the students and
their mentors will be edited into three 3-minute videos in time for
unveiling during National Biotech Week. The videos will be posted to various
websites, including YouTube, and offered to science teachers as a tool to
entice more students to get involved in science.
